Читал кто-нибудь Beautiful Code? Поделитесь впечатлениями.
В интернете ну уж слишком разные отзывы, хотя такие авторы как Brian Kernigan и Greg Kroah-Hartman (авторы первой и шестнадцатой глав соответственно) не должны вроде бы ставить под сомнение качество книги.

прочитал содержание - такое впечатление, что это сборник неопубликованных статей разных авторов, какая-то совсем сборная солянка, начинается с regexp-ов Кернигана, и дальше все подряд...

Книга очень хорошая. Да, это что-то типа сборника статей по совсем разным темам, но качество этих статей очень высокое. Сейчас читаю и всем (знающим, понимающим... и любящим С) советую.
