Никогда не интересовался и не занимался этим вопросом. Итак, я хочу совсем немногого: забирать почту с M$ Exchange. Какой именно там exchange и какая-то дополнительная информация мне не доступна. Сейчас я просматриваю свой ящик через браузер.
Почитал что пишут в сети - evolution (та самая, что из GNOME проекта), теоретически умеет то, что мне нужно. The Best Email Client for Linux
It's also the only client here that supports Microsoft Exchange, so if you need that, Evolution's your winner.
I've also failed to configure Evolution with an Exchange server (2007, I think).
DavMail came ot the rescue! http://davmail.sourceforge.net/
DavMail is a gateway that interfaces with an Exchange server and provides Evolutions with standard IMAP, Pop, CalDav etc interfaces.

Прежде чем идти дальше - дейстивительно ни один linux клиент не умеет общаться с Microsoft Exchange и нужны костыли типа mail gateway?

Any users with Exchange 2007 or newer servers should switch to evolution-ews, which is actively developed.
