Надо было не в ней делать ссылку, сам файл /usr/src/linux должен быть ссылкой.

У меня в ДЕБЕ нужно ставить пакет не kernel-sources а kernel-headers и иногда прописывать опцию --kernel-source-path=/usr/src/linux-headers....

kernel-sources - это исходники, kernel-headers - это заголовки

Во первых извиняюсь за ошибку, пакет называется linux-headers, а во вторых для установки дров исходники ядра не нужны, нужны только заголовочные файлы.

То есть не хватает заголовочного файла kernel.h. Никак не догоню зачем пересобирать ядро если драйверам нужны лишь заголовочные файлы которые всего лишь надо распаковать из пакета? ИМХО ошибка в указании пути, пересборка ядра тут нипричем. Не нужно путать исходники ядра и заголовочные файлы.

Человек ставит не в дебиане. В rpm-based исходники и заголовки сидят в одном пакете, к тому же заголовочный файл присутствует (если я правильно понял ответ kuw).
2 Sasha - сборка ядра тут явно лишняя. У меня требовалось такое только один раз - и то из-за моих кривых ручек

2 kuw что именно пишет инсталлятор когда вы указываетет ему --kernel-source-path=/usr/srs/2.6.18-1.2257.fc5 ?

Теперь инсталлятор не устраивает то, что Ваше ядро (новое) не совпадает по конфигурации с описанным в файле config. У меня была такая проблема, но давно.. Как лечил не помню, но она лечится, и вроде бы довольно просто.....

нашел в инете что fc5 лучше работает kernel-2.6.16-1.Скачал,поставил,и пишет,видимо,что исходники не соответствуют.Посмотрите пожалуйста,и кто знает подскажите где и что взять.Спасибо.

поставил fc6 kernel-2.6.18-1.2798.-стандартное установил драйвер kmod-nvidia-legasy, GeForce2MX400. Автоматич.замена nv на nvidia и все, экран800 / 600 не более.при запуске игр - перезагрузка.Как эту беду настроить не знаю.

все сделал как вы сказали ,скачал очередной дрвйвер,меняю ядра,объновляю gcc, ивсе напрасно.я чувствую что на эту долбаную Федору вообще ни один нормальный драйвер невозможно поставить.подскажите,пожалуйста нормальную ОС.СПАСИБО
