Firefox-убийца (работы любого DE и WM)

Не так давно случилось нечто странное: браузер отправил систему в ребут.
Этим браузером был Minefield. Кроме него работал еще может pcmanfm, а происходило всё в LXDE

После перезагрузки запустил Chrome, потом закрыв его решил открыть Minefield - в результате все совсем зависло, ни реагировало ни на какие клавиши и т.д.
Снова полноценный ребут.
Решил запустить уже Firefox, в результате еще один ребут.
Обновление системы впустую.

Пробовал запускать в эмуляторе консоли - результат такой, никаких ошибок, но затем "время чтоб сделать ребут".
Пробовал запускать в Openbox, Gnome, LXDE - результат один и тот же.

Что где откуда и куда еще и почему пошло не так?

а система уходит в ребут исключительно при работающих браузерах?
может не в софте, а в железках проблема? диск там сыпется, например..

Да это вообще впервые чтоб в полный ребут.
Несколько раз перезагружались только Иксы, ну и подвисает иногда.

P.S. Как максимально просто и быстро перенести весь / на другой жесткий диск? Кажется, простое копирование не срабатывает?

dd if=/dev/sda{номер} of=/dev/new_disk{номер} bs=1024k

bs можно варьировать. только главное if с of местами не перепутать, а то нехорошо получится (:

не срабатывает в том плане, что не переносятся права и владельцы? у cp есть опция -p. или что-то другое имеется в виду?

Лучше всего cp -ax / /mnt/newroot, и права/владельцы переносятся, и копирование осуществляется только в пределах одной фс, т.е /

Согласен.
И метод этот куда более гибок чем dd
Если уж надо то можно и ФС поменять и lvm прикрутить и много чего еще интересного
