Как заставить работать два PCI-Sata контролера?

Стоит у меня дома старый компьютер (работает как круглосуточная качалка+файлохранилище).Так как сата он не поддерживает поставил я на него PCI контроллер на 2 SATA.
Система стоит на IDE-диске, а через сата подключены подключены два диска по 1Tb. Но место начало заканчиваться и я решил подключить третий диск.
Купил еще один контролер и подцепил еще один винт. И комп перестал загружаться.
Методом тыка было выявлено: если подцепить на любой контролер винт (не важно один или два) то система грузится, А если на два разных контролера то нет.
Grub ругается на stage 1_5, а lilo пишет LIL после чего выскакивает несколько строк заполненые 01.
А начинал я с Xebian

ИМХО, что-то на стыке прерываний (конфликт или нехватка) и возможностей BIOS старой материнки.
Без информации о железе ничего конкретнее сказать нельзя.

Надо смотреть на настройки в BIOS, на то, чего и сколько вообще поддерживает материнка на PCI и т.д. и т.п.

Вывод dmesg изобилует нехорошими ошибками и варнингами.
Я бы начал с того, что убедился бы наверняка в исправности железа.

Самое простое - проверить методом исключения.
Т.е. проверить работу этих контроллеров и винтов на заведомо исправной материнке.
Проверить работу на этой материнке заведомо исправного контроллера и винта.
Проверить контроллер с заведомо исправными винтами и наоборот.

Кроме того, проверить конфиг загрузчика и как загрузчик "видлит" накопители - не вылезают ли устройства sd* впереди устройств hd*.

Методом тыка было выявлено: если подцепить на любой контролер винт (не важно один или два) то система грузится, А если на два разных контролера то нет.
Попробуйте в такой конфигурации загрузиться в как-нибудь универсального LiveCD (или LiveUSB, если материнка умеет грузиться с USB).
Например, SystemRescueCD.

Судя по всему, ломается порядок устройств и загрузчики пытаются лезть не туда, куда надо.
А там, куда они лезут, они не обнаруживают искомый код и валятся с ошибкой.

Спасибо за советы разобрался.
Виновата оказалась материнка.
Правда стоило подключить к ней мышку, как загрузка чудесным образом стала нормальной. :)
