Проблема с ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (Проблема с дровами на ноутбуке HP G62-b26ER)

Купил новый себе ноут HP G62-b26ER
В нем имеется 2 видеоадаптера встроенный и отдельный.
1) ATI Mobility Radeon HD5470
2) Intel HD Graphics (Core i3)
Для установки на ноут я решил выбрать Ubuntu 10.10.
Параллельно на ноуте уже установлена 7.
В общем, в процессе установки траблов нет.
Когда я установил систему, как обычно, просит обновления....Скачиваю, ставлю...норм.
После установки проприетарных дров, что с сайта производителя, что из менеджера пакетов после перезагрузки не желает запускать Gnome.
Ручной запуск Х сервера не помогает.
В BIOS отключить видеокарту невозможно.
Больше года сижу на Linux и не хочется как то слезать.

типичная ошибка, не следует качать и ставить с сайта производителя, а устанавливать нужно из репозиториев - это тот-же самый проприетарный драйвер, только уже "под дистрибутив". Удаляйте скачанный с сайта и ставьте с реп fglrx.

Говорю ж ставил и из репозиториев.
Причем сначала из репов, а когда выше описаная проблема возникла попробовал от производителя установить та ж проблема.

разве что попробуйте сначала вычистить всё - удалите все следы и драйвера из реп и от пропериетарных с сайта и попробовать по новому из реп установить.
aticonfig --initial выполняли после установки ?

Все то же самое. Черный экран и после всякой писанины предложение ввести логин и пароль в терминале на весь экран.
Залогинившись в системе пытаюсь еще раз уже после перезагрузки повторить команду aticonfig --initial. Пишет что эта команда может быть исполнена, только при запущенных иксах, а иксы не запускаются.

Попробуйте с встроенного видео переключиться на ATI, здесь можно посмотреть как это сделать, а потом заново установить драйвер ATI.
