поиск уже не спасает

предисловие:
куплен ноутбук :)
куплен внешний винт WD, 2.5" в самом дешевом боксе x-storm usb2.0, под виндой работает без нареканий, с нормальной скоростью пишет - читает. производителем поддерживаются драйвера для usb 2.0 систем "винда" и "макинтош"

на ноутбук поставлена мандрива 2007, чтобы посмотреть, с чем ее едят
поставлена рядом с виндой, как и у многих. запустилась, увидела все устройства, кроме кардридера (на данный момент не актуально)

прочитаны темы по монтированию устройств.
смонтирован раздел с виндой, fat32, настроены буквы килиллицы.

подключил внешний винт (NTFS)- гробовое молчание
diskdrake иво не видит (удивило)....
посмотрел в списке оборудования - пишет, есть такое - sda, usb-storege, все как положено... - открыть мастер настройки этого оборудования?
соглашаюсь
открывается дискдрэйк, в котором sda отсутствует как класс.

ntfs-3g при этом пишет ошибку ввода - вывода

прочитал оставшиеся темы по монтированию винтов.


НОЛЬ ЭМОЦИЙ

подключил флэшку - сразу выплюнула окно с предложением ее открыть, появилась в diskdrake

подключил внешний винт 3.5", ntfs, usb - бокс с внешним питанием от сети (притащил от соседа) - сам тут же определился, появился в diskdrake

свой вытаскивал - вставлял - хрен там...
снес файловую таблицу под досом - не помогло - не видит совсем
отформатировал в фат32 - то же самое

поменял местами винты в ноутбуке (внешний запихал внутрь, из ноутбука поставил наружу, в биосе поставил грузится с внешнего винта) запускает LILO, пару секунд, и виснет наглухо)

ВНИМАНИЕ - ВОПРОС:
шо за на?
у меня нарушился сон, и иссякли идеи...вожусь уже неделю...
может, нужно что-нибудь прописать в свойствах самого usb?
на сайте производителя тоже ничего не написано...

выручайте...

Что показывает fdisk -l при подключонном WD, 2.5" в самом дешевом боксе x-storm.

fdisk -l выдает список всех hda разделов, sda не показывает

сразу после этого запустил diskdrake

он выдал в консоли строк триццать типа

asr: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]
hpt37x: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]
hpt45x: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]
pdc: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]
sil: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]
lsi: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]

via: reading /dev/sda [input/output error]
и все в таком духе...

господа, выручайте, своего ума не хватает...
вчера уже думал поменять джампер на винте (по умолчанию стоит мастером) - не заработало...
такое ощущение, что нет дров для контроллера usb-ide.
он два раза опрашивает устройство по всем известным ему производителям, и отваливается...

Хорошо а что dmesg говорит когда его втыкаете ?

в том то и дело, что никто ничего не говорит...

тишина :(

опрашивает , когда запускаю diskdrake, так, как описано в посте 3, по производителям

разобрал внутренности, там единственная маленькая микруха стоит в контроллере, что-то вроде Moai M110 8 (или M110b)

сколько смотрю в инете, в основном контроллеры от VIA стоят, и на больших боксах, а тут вот, погнался за компактностью - получил
и дров под линух у него нету...

Хоть как-то должен отреагировать и lsusb должен хоть что-то увидеть

врать не буду, dmsg не пробовал, но в устройствах "управления кампутером" мандривы, как написано выше, вполне нормально видно, что устройство sda есть...
я сейчас на работе, посмотреть - проверить не могу
какие еще логи посмотреть нужно, чтобы диагностировать проблемму?
я через пару - тройку часов схожу домой, выложу

хотя, у меня уже появилось устойчивое ощущение, что нет дров для этого контроллера....

а, может быть, нужно что-нибудь уточнить в настройках usb/scsi ??

на самом деле - не могу отнести себя даже к "чайникам" по линуху, ибо даже до этого уровня еще не дошел :)

ну вот, поклацал, что получилось...
ни-че-го, только длинный лог

судя по логу, линух не может получить доступ к файловой таблице, еще раз проверил под досом, несколькими програмулинами, с таблицей все нормально...

Такое было, когда винту не хватало питания.
Под вендой все было ок, а под линухом - такая-же фигня.
Порт USB выдает 500mA, а винт твой, кажется 700mA.

может ли под линухом быть другое управление питанием устройства?

внешнего питания у него нет, под виндой запускается, под линуксом, судя по звуку, тоже, но я уже не знаю, на что грешить....

провода два
версия с питаловом отпала...
вчера подключил внешнее питание, винт запустился, потом подключил его к ноутбуку
результат такой же - не может прочитать 0 сектор и неправильная файловая таблица...

попробуйте просто переформатировать диск. У меня иногда такое помогает на съёмных винтах (винты старые уже).

под досом сносил, менял файловую систему - без разницы

под линюхой diskdrake его не видит, а из консоли пишет, что не может прочитать загрузочный сектор...

эти проблемы - до, во время, и после экспериментов...

зы: винт новый, ему месяц от силы, без битых секторов, и прочего, проверял неоднократно.

unrecognized partition table type (см лог)

форматировал partition магиком, может, он unix системами не дружит?
пробовал MBR tool, MBR work и пр.: обнулял MBR, записывал стандартную, форматировал в фат - нтфс, не помогает

есть ли более специфические настройки для SCSI ?

Ты брат не один такой, у меня таже чудо коробочка...
Но под гентушкой мы разделы на ней делали, хотя изначально всегда видит как неразбитый на разделы винт, в убунту точно смотрел, видит девайс, разделы нет ...
