У меня такая проблема.
Скачал драйвер с сайта ATI -- fglrx-4.3.0-3.14.6.i386.rpm
Установил. В процессе он мне выдал:

На сайте ATI есть такая ошибка. Написано, что типа у вас не установлен QT,
установите его. Но ведь у меня всё установлено!!!
Но это ещё ничего. Дальше fglrxconfig. Выбрал клаву, мышку, моды монитора (1024х768, 800х600 -- или просто моды 32), всякие там частоты обновления.
Сохранил файл, перезагрузился.
Загружается KDE. Видно, что частота обновления -- 85hz. Но всё какое-то мелкое, как будто 1280х1024. Но монитор на 85hz максимум может 1024х768! Шрифты в некоторых программах (на пр. XMMS) просто невозможно разглядеть! Зато 3d не тормозит.
Моя конфигурация:
Linux Mandrake 10.0 Download Edition 4CD (Со стандартными драйверами, ATIшных нет)
Видеокарта: ATI Radeon 9200SE 64mb
Монитор: SyncMaster 763MB (кстати, в настройках, если выбирать монитор по производителю, моего монитора нет, есть только 765MB)
Материнка: Gigabyte GA-7VA
Кто знает, как исправить разрешение и control panel установить?
Или есть XF86config-4 у кого нормальный? (Особенно Section "Screen" и Section "Monitor")
Или адрески какие-нибуть с ФАКами или руководствами и т.п.?

Я когда мандрэйк ставлю тоя вообще ставлю неродной (не коммерческий) драйвер для радеон, ато айтишный уж больно глючный.
По поводу control panel не переживай от нее проку никакого.
А вот для монитора тебе нужно задать только частоты развертки. Ведь модель монитора только для этого и предлагают выбирать...

Я бы тоже драйвер не ставил, но 3D жутко тормозит.

Желательно прописать в конфиге в секции Section "Monitor" явно модлайн для нужного разрешения.Генерится строка либо с помощью gtf,либо xvidtune или еще чего-то,естественно осторожно.А потом в Section "Screen" подсекции "Display" в строке Modes нужно указать имя той модлайн,которую прописали в секции монитор,и в Modes она должна идти по списку первой.

Лучше всего - поискать собранный драйвер под_конкретно_мандрейк.Иначе намучаешься

В дистрибутивах обычно с исами идут.xvidtune есть наверное везде.Это проги для настройки разрешения/частоты монитора.Три параметра gtf: разрешение_по_Х разрешение_по_Y желаемая_частота-итого выдаётся строка,которую вписываешь куда нужнов конфиг.xvidtune запускаешь и крутишь.Меняется геометрия монитора,частота.Зажатая кнопка auto сразу показывает результат.Потом когда всё устраивает,жмешь show и также в консоли показывается модлайн.Есть еще проги -videogen,kvideogen.Документация тоже на всё это есть.
Насчет шрифтов - пропиши секции FontPath,их новый конфиг затёр.

Попробовал gtf, сгенерил строчки, вставил в конфиг.
Но всё равно то же самое!!!

Я вернул старый конфиг от стандартного драйвера, и разрешение стало нормальное, но работает стандартный драйвер.
А можно к нему приделать 3D, чтобы аппаратно было и не тормозило?
Может есть такоая штука?
Но всё равно то же самое!!!

Я вернул старый конфиг от стандартного драйвера, и разрешение стало нормальное, но работает стандартный драйвер.
А можно к нему приделать 3D, чтобы аппаратно было и не тормозило?
Может есть такоая штука?
