Итак, я установил новую версию Ubuntu себе на Macbook с качестве второй ОС. Это возможно, т.к. даже на официальном сайте ОС я нашел инструкцию, вот (Ubuntu на MacBook)
Также я прочел роководство одного из человеков, кто это сделал: руководство
сама установка прошла нормально, теперь оставалось все откалибровать. И вот, самым неприятным неприятием оказалось невозможность установки нормального для ноута разрешения - 1280х800, а ОС ставила только 1024х768.
Также, по инструкции, а там было сказано о такой проблеме, я установил программу 915resolution, которая должна была все исправить, но что-то не так...
Я новичек в линуксе, немогли бы вы мне объяснить все нубовским языком, что там конкретно нужно сделать.

To fix the screen resolution, install the 915resolution package (it's in the Universe repository). MacBook Pro users can skip this step.
sudo software-properties -e universe
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install 915resolution
Restart X (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) for the changes to take effect.
Но вот чтото не выходит. Я установил, и перезагрузил этот Х, но ничего не произошло. Потом я решил воспользоваться такой темной для меня штуковиной как терминал 0_о ..
Я делал так: ввел 915resolution, и мне выпало следующее:
Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.2
Usage: 915resolution [-f file] [-c chipset] [-l] [mode X Y] [bits/pixel] [htotal] [vtotal]
Set the resolution to XxY for a video mode
Bits per pixel are optional. htotal/vtotal settings are additionally optional.
Options:
-f use an alternate file (THIS IS USED FOR DEBUG PURPOSES)
-c force chipset type (THIS IS USED FOR DEBUG PURPOSES)
-l display the modes found in the video BIOS
-r display the modes found in the video BIOS in raw mode (THIS IS USED FOR DEBUG PURPOSES)
Потом, надеясь, что все правильно понял, я ввел 915resolution [mode 1280 800], но мне выскачило следующее:
Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.2
Unable to obtain the proper IO permissions: Operation not permitted
Вобщем ничего не получилось. Я молю Вас о помощи: ибо я очень стараюсь переходить на линукс, но мне все время что-то мешает. Пожалуйста, прочтите тот отрывок инструкции, или просмотрите обзор, где на эту тему сказано следующее:
The system booted nicely. I logged in, and to my joy I could hear sound-effects and the wireless-lan manager had properly found all the nearby wireless access-points (including my own). The only apparent problem was the resolution, which was 1024×768, but my MacBook is built for 1280×800.
The documentation for Ubuntu on MacBook (as mentioned before) was aware of this, and thus a solution was presented. Once again, additional information but the commands to be typed, was missing, and instead of recommending the user-friendly and existing graphical way of fixing the resolution issue, only a command line way was presented. proper_resolution_1.jpeg
Anyway, the steps needed to be taken was simply installing a package called 915resolution and restarting the xserver (by hitting ctrl + alt + backspace) and it worked.
