потом эту версию (на самом деле было все равно )
ну вот, скачался файл, переименовала его в gmv, а как теперь сделать, чтоб он заработал??
когда в командной строке пишешь gmv ничего не появляется

Какое исходное расширение было у файла? Прогу ведь еще поставить нужно.

Notes:

Sandia's ExodusII Library, version 4.46, is used to read ExodusII files.

University Corporation for Atmospheric Research/Unidata's netcdf library,
version 3.62, is used by ExodusII to store/extract data from ExodusII files.

The Independent JPEG Group's jpeg library, version 6b, is used to make the
jpeg images. The library is statically linked into GMV.

The hpux versions of GMV are no longer supported. Version 3.5 is the
latest version that can be downloaded.

The Mesa versions have been statically linked with the Mesa library.
These versions convert the OpenGL commands to X11 commands via the Mesa
interface. There is no graphics acceleration, so these versions can be slow.

All of the Mesa versions will now create it's own colormap so color
flashing may occur. The Mesa versions should now start under any color
map conditions and will provide better colors.

The Mesa library is written by Brian Paul. Information on Mesa can
be found on the WWW at http://www.mesa3d.org.
The version that GMV uses is 6.4.2.

The ntogl Windows 2000/XP version is for Windows 2000 or later and requires
Microsoft's Window Services for Unix and an OpenGL X server such as WRQ's
Reflection X, Hummingbird 3-D, XWin32 or XFree86.

The cygwinogl Windows 2000/XP version is for Windows 2000 or later and
requires cygwin and XFree86 for cygwin. These can be found on the WWW at
http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin and http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/xfree.
Any OpenGL capable X-server can be used with cygwinogl, just be sure you
have the following in your bashrc file:

There are a couple of errors with cygwinogl, first the main display is cut
off at the top by about 50 pixels, second, the resize facility does not
work correctly. These problems are caused because I have to use lesstif
(instead of Motif).

The linuxogl requires OpenGL elf libraries and the OpenGL extensions to
the X server (glx).

The DEC OSF1 versions have been dropped in favor of the newer Compaq
Tru64 operating system for Alpha workstations.

The Apple Mac OS X (10.3) version works with the XFree86 X Server, and is
hardware accelerated in rootless mode. Be sure to download the 10.3
patches. Xtools works, but sometimes the GUI behaves strangely.
Version 8.0.2 of eXodus on Mac OS 10.2.4 does work.

The Batch versions use Mesa's OSMesa off-screen buffers to generate the
image. Rename the binaries to gmvBatch.

Надо было выбрать - # LINUX OpenGL version with Mesa Elf shared libs. У тебя дистр 32х разрядный (X86), а то, что было скачано для 64х разрядного (x86_64). Вот оно и не пашет.
