Установил сегодня Fedora Core 6, а она не видит беспроводную карточку ASUS WL-138g. Помогите, что нужно делать?

Изучить вывод команд dmesg, lspci. Выяснить как называется ваш радиочип. Какие ошибки возникают при инициализации карточки. И описАть проблему более конкретно.

Также не могу установить никакие пакеты т.к. менеджер пакетов не запускается, пишет "Не удается получить сведения о программах. Возможно это связано с ошибкой подключения к сети"

И что же мы видим...
1. На компьютере отсутствует проводная сетевая карточка...
2. Стоит Wi-Fi карточка Marvell W8300
3. с чипом Yukon-EC (0xb6) rev 2
4. попытка включить карточку не удалась.

Возможные причины:
1) есть кнопка включения, которую не включили
2) в ядре нет подержки данной карточки

Второе более вероятно. Тогда надо устанавливать фирмваре и/или драйвер. За инструкциями рекомендую сходить в гугл. Все ключевые слова вам тут написаны :)

Дело в том, что никакие пакеты установить не получается в том числе и ndiswrapper. Система требует подключения к сети, конкретно пишет при запуске менеджера пакетов "Не удается получить сведения о программах. Возможно это связано с ошибкой подключения к сети".

Скачайте нужные пакеты, перенесите на флешке или CD...

К сожалению, в ФедОре не ориентируюсь. Знаю только, что rpm-based. Менеджер пакетов, который отказывается работать, это видимо, некая GUI программа. Там, наверняка, есть и консольные утилиты, позволяющие устанавливать пакеты непосредственно из rpm файлов. Запустите apropos rpm и далее man ...

а можно создать свой мини репозитарий

создай папку например /repo
закинь туда пакеты
потом createrepo /repo
он проиндексирует ее

иди /etc/yum.*.d (вместо звездочки там слово какое то, там не ошибешся) там лежат так называемые repo файла (сцылки на репозитарии) зайди в каждый и выруби их в сроке enable = 0 (1 включен 0 = выключен)
создай файл по образу существующих
и сделай его enable = 1 тока gpcheck = 0 зделай. так как файла подписи у тебя не будет.
baseurl = file:///repo

если ты хочеш что бы у тебя оставались пакеты загруженные с нета то тут же в /etc/yum.conf включи строку cache = 1
там увидиш путь где они у тебя будут собираться
если что то не будет получатся. например лобавил новый паккет в свой репозитарий а его УУП (установка удаление пакетов) не видит зайдетеш в каталог куда по умолчанию Федя скадывает скачанные пакеты и убей там все файлы (кроме .rpm ессна) и пробуй снова

Установил ndiswrapper, драйвера с диска от карточки, но что-то она так и не появилась в списке оборудования при настройке подключения.

ifdown и ifup надо выполнить от имени суперпользователя ака рута..

Ну так я от рута и выполнял. Или я что-то не понимаю.

Только что пробовал заставить работать эту wifi карточку через НДИС в ОпенСуСе. Всё сделал как в ХауТу, ничо не заработало.
Я так понял, не у одного меня такие проблемы. Карточка гарантированно работает в Мандриве 2007, 2007.1, 2008 ща буду пробовать. В мандриве она заводиться без единого залаза в консоль, но тоже через ндис-врапер. Собственно по этому я никакой другой дистр толком попробывать не могу, ибо нигде смог.
Вопщем с надеждой смотрю, на вашу борьбу и искринне желаю успехов :)
Огромная просьба, как получиться, написать пошаговый, гарантированный ХауТу.
ЗЫ: товарищи гуру, а могу я чем-нибудь помоч, со своей манривой? ну там содержание файла настроек или ещё чего?..
