всем привет, вчера купил новый hd, т.е. внешний жесткий диск, подключаемый через usb, но линух его не видит, команда fdisk -l тоже ничего о нем не выдает, пожалуйста, подскажите куда копать.

Обычно USB блочные устройства определяются как sata, то есть /dev/sd*. Для начала можно исследовать вывод #lsusb, а затем вывод #ls /dev/sd*

как видите, sda вообще нет,невероятно, но факт

По lsusb с удивлением обнаруживаем, что устройство совсем не видно :-\. А попробуйте его воткнуть в заведомо живой разъем (например, вместо брелка).
Кстати, если у вас ноут, то известна проблема, когда устройству не хватает питания.

ПС - PC. Это в ответ на мой вопрос о ноуте. Всеже попробуйте вместо брелка тыркнуть. (никогда не пользуйтесь передней панелью USB :-) )

Я не понял, у Вас к этому USB-диску идёт два шнурка USB или один?

Как Вы монтируете этот HDD? И какая там fs?

Ваш usb-винт - это 2.5' винт от ноутбука + контроллер? Если да, и винт большого объёма, проверьте, определяется ли он вообще на другом компьютере. Я попал именно в такую ситуацию: винт на 120 ГБ и SATA-контроллер. Подключаю - винт, слышно, работает, все лампочки на контроллере горят. Контроллер имеет 2 usb-разъёма, подключаю оба. А ни один компьютер, работающий под различными операционными системами, его не видят. Предполагаю несовместимость моего контроллера с винтами большого объёма.
