gnome+gentoo (установка gnome)

вот из под мандривы собрал gentoo теперь хочится устоновить gnome. подскажить что для этого нада. и второй вопрос можна ли ставить гноме из под chroot (т.е. из мандривы)?
P.S. ставлю генту в первый раз поэтому простите и если покажется глыпый вопрос тоже извените.

вполне установился,
все что после этого написано - нормально:
напоминание запустить etc-update и почитать мануалы

надо /etc/X11/xorg.conf исправлять, судя по логу ему конкретно не нравится строчка:

можно попробовать поменять на 16,
или драйвер для видеокарты сменить.

хотя возможно стоит для начала загрузить установленную систему,
вместо попыток дальше работать в chroot...

Возможно не подцепились какие-то зависимости...
Советую устанавливать ПО добавляя ключ -D, должно помочь:

Все комбинации настроек иксов перебрать возможно за ОЧЕНЬ долгое время

Показывай свой xorg.conf и какая у тебя видеоплата?

Судя по многим [ebuild U ], ничего кроме emerge --sync && emerge -Dva gnome ты не делал, тогда зачем просишь совета?

Если ты показал весь /etc/X11/xorg.conf, то другого поведения иксов ожидать не стоит... Создай для начала хоть как-то работающий конфиг с помощью xorgconfig, а дальше читай руководства и настраивай под свои нужды.

Использование конфига из мандривы требует изменение путей к шрифтам...
У тебя устройства ввода и видеокарта правильно в make.conf указаны? покажи и его.

Похоже полностью make.conf выложить слишком сложная задача...
С такими настройками получится очень нестабильная система. ИМХО -O3 и ~x86 лучше не использовать...
К устройствам ввода стоит добавить evdev.
AUTOCLEAN="yes" для чего? его даже в man make.conf нет...

Не лишним будет:
FEATURES="parallel-fetch"
LINGUAS="ru en" #Это обязательно надо выставлять
ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel" #Нужно настроить под себя http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml

USE флаги и весь make.conf желательно настраивать самому и весьма внимательно, у тебя много лишних флагов (voodoo3,...)
Систему по хендбукку ставил или как?

смотря что иметь ввиду под полной поддержкой,
шрифты и локали можно настроить и без этой строчки в make.conf,
а то, что программы не будут компилироваться с русским интерфейсом - так это даже лучше,
перевод там обычно оставляет желать лучшего...

Не согласен, большинство софта из КДЕ и ГНОМа, а также опенофис переведены хорошо, пока попался один ляп в Ktorrent и всё.
Если что-то переведено плохо - это скорее исключение, чем правило...
Вы где именно встретили плохой перевод, может это было давно? Или мы используем совершенно разное ПО?

Да дело даже не в ляпах, а просто в самом стиле перевода...
У меня это впечатление сложилось после того, как у соседа на компе поработал какое-то время с "переведенными" KDE и остальным софтом,
не помню что я там настраивал, но процесс вызывал у меня массу проблем,
потому как приходилось переводить русскую надпись обратно на английский,
и только после этого мне удавалось догадываться что под ней имелось ввиду.
Может быть конечно это просто с непривычки, да и вообще очень субъективно,
но с тех пор я не жалею, что дома у меня оба компа, на которых установлены дистрибутивы linux'a, имеют английский пользовательский интерфейс - просто и понятно

Пакетов, которые используют LINGUAS, можно перечислить по пальцам одной руки - у меня OOo, который "один из немногих", вполне себе нормально обходится и без этого. Локали ru_RU.utf8 остаточно для корректного отображения русских дат, денежных единиц и прочего.

Да кстати, я по примерно той же причине предпочитаю LC_MESSAGES='en_US.utf8'. Уж лучше оригинальные надписи вместо русско-англо-албанского хренпоймичего...

Nikoli, ну ладно - по пальцам рук и ног... из всего, например у меня, установлено - gtk+, FF и OOo. Про последний я уже сказал - в FF тоже проблем нет... Не знаю, правда, какое влияение этот параметр окажет на GTK+.
