тормоза в играх

жутко тормозят игры тукс рейсер , клон эластомании , квейк три арена итд
на другом компе с более древней видюхой все просто летает
подскажите пожалуйста как исправить тормоза

моя система:
amd athlon 64 x2 dual
5000+ 2.61ггц
2 гб оперативы

видюха geforce 8400


дистрибутив mandriva linux 2008 free

вроде все сделано как надо, но... вобщем карма наврно плохая.
Знатоки, помогите, пожалуйста. в коем то веке захотелось поиграть

Столько FPS маловато :-( У меня на урезаной MX440 "7514 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1502.758 FPS"
Попорбуйте глянуть в /var/log/messages или /var/log/X11* на предмет error и warning.

ошибок, как видно, нету. а что значит это предупреждение и насколько оно серьезно я, к сожалению, не знаю

сегодня переконфигурировал иксы утилитой nvidia-xconfig, вобщем glxgears теперь дает нормальный результат в 7700 fps. НО 3d игры все равно тормозят. выкладываю новый xorg.conf:

uptime показывает:

может быть дело в процессоре и харде? но в таком случае под виндой ничего не тормозит...
