Не собирается KDE

you need to install kdelibs first.

Ну так а если сразу emerge kdelibs

не думаю что emerge kde это хорошаяя идея - установишь много чего ненужного.
имхо лучше
emerge -va kdebase-startkde
emerge -va kdm

да-да, внимательно читать хендбук, там про установку кед расписано вдоль и поперек. Я, например, ставлю кеды так:

вообще kdelibs должно было автоматом подтянуться при установке kde-base, но почему этого не произошло, я не вполне понимаю

quadrik, имхо слишком много ненужного, я предпочитаю генту-стайл и emerge -av kdebase-startkde =)
просто мне например не нужны игры, пим и пр. а что надо я сам поставлю=)

Avenit, скорее всего с USE что-то не то, т.к. kdelibs должны тянуться сами.

Точно, нэт ксорга, я тоже по этим граблям ходил.
Также попробуй env-update && source /etc/profile - возможно нет записи PATH

Не понимаю - как вы ставите пакеты... Последнее время зачастили подобные проблемы, в которых при установке одного пакета, в системе, почему-то, не существует необходимого другого. Разруливанием зависимостей должен занимать пакетный менеджер - Portage, paludis, pkgcore и прочие, на основании USE-флагов, а не юзер.

Дык согласно документации из ссылки выше, достаточно указания флагов kde и qt...
Сейчас у меня "opengl kde qt xorg"
Что опять не так?

смотри из списка что уже установлено, удаляй, потом ставь kdebase-startkde %)

Вот и сделайте "emerge --pretend kdebase-startkde", он покажет, какой пакет конфликтует.

emerge kde тянет за собой кучу ненужных вещей типа, упомянутых игр, "программы для людей с ограниченными возможностями", "различные безделушки, которыми можно позабавится, в ожидании, пока доставят вашу пиццу", "образовательные KDE приложения для школьников от 3 до 18 лет". Не всем это надо.
kde-base позволяет стартануть и потом уже добавлять программы по мере необходимости.

Не понял заче м kde-base и т.д.
надо поставить emerge kde

и стартовать

есть вполне вменяемый kde-meta, из которого можно что-то потом удалить и нет всяких безделушек.
