Поставил все как было написано. Запустил прогу установки. Установился Samsung Unified Driver Configurator.
Там в вкладке принтеров появился принтер и отлично работает.
Во вкладке сканеров пишет что сканеры не обнаружены.
Нашел вот что в нете (вроде описание решения проблемы, но я как ньюб там ничего не понял).
GOOD NEWS because I've join the scanner detection in both the ways (as 'root' and/or as 'user').
I would like to make a list of all the activities done:
1 – Removed all the previous Samsung SW installed.
2 - Created 'ss' user in the default Group called 'lp'.
3 – Installed '20070720152943906_UnifiedLinuxDriver.tar.gz' (from 'http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...sp_nm=SCX-4200)'.
4 – In '/etc/fstab' changed the 'usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0' line in 'usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs default,devmode=0660 0 0'.
5 – Changed line in '/etc/sane.d/dll.conf' from “#smfp” to “smfp”
6 – Also followed your suggestion for '/usr/lib/libmfp.so.1.0.1' that needs to be installed with only the USB enabled and the parport disabled. This file was found on the internet from 'http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=675843'.
I do not know if the above sequence is really correct (or if I have omitted something) but however, at this time, everything works fine!

я правильно понимаю, что у Вас suse и под нее с 4300 все пошло? И немного оффтопный вопрос - маленькая встроенная память принтера не сильно тормозит работу?
