Я правильно понимаю, что eth0 -- это мой FireWire?
И можно ли его удалить как сетевое устройство?

Это всего-навсего неподнятый ethernet интерфейс.
Он чем-то мешает?

Во-первых, он сдвигает остальные интерфейсы на единицу (это если не бороться с udev'ом и его переименовывалкой девайсов).
Во-вторых, просто, болтается зря и вводит в заблуждение (потенциально, в некоторых случаях).
Если бы этот интерфейс появился у меня на машине, я бы точно так же заблеклистил его модуль, т.к. строить Ethernet-сеть на основе Firewire... мягко говоря, в ближайшем будущем не планирую. :)

rm_, спасибо! Действительно помогло..
Подскажите, а есть способ переименовать eth1 в eth0? Редактирование /etc/network/interfaces приведет к желаемому результату? Или в другом направлении идти надо?
