С клиентского компьютера не пингует не по ip, не по имени хоста.
Цель текущая: поднять PPTP сервер, а клиенты с eth0 могли бы иметь доступ к локальным ресурсам провайдера (ppp0).
Цель на будущее: через ppp0 подключиться к опенвпн серверу и раздавать трафик от этого интерфейса на eth0
ppp0 - dsl провайдер (локальные(гостевые) ресурсы)
eth0- сетевуха смотрящая в локалку
eth1- сетевуха на модем
