dpkg вручную (dpkg --remove вернул код ошибки 1)

Как заставить dpkg забыть о пакете?
скачал,попытался установить ltmodem-2.6.8-2-386, с --force * о чем я только дулал *, хотя у самого testing/unstable
Теперь этот пакет broken и никак его не удалить, и самое главное - ничего не поставить и не удалить - все останавливается на этом.

dpkg: не удалось обработать параметр ltmodem-2.6.8-2-386 (--remove):
 подпроцесс post-removal script возвратил код ошибки 1

у него в зависимостях вроде ядро 2.6.8 , и он пытается выгрузить модули каковых нету.
допустим файлы из пакета удалю вручную, а вот как избавиться от него в dpkg ?

удалил упоминания об этом пакете из /var/lib/dpkg/status - и все заработало.
чем теперь мне это грозит?
хотя после празников - уже ничо не страшно, кстати всех с НГ!
